Our thoughts are with you as you navigate the changes from our global pandemic. We are all experiencing the virus, yet we are not experiencing it the same; each of us bring unique circumstances, histories, and trauma to this uncertain time. While the global pandemic has raised the public’s awareness of how we’re interconnected with messages galore reading, “we’re all in this together,” those of us with an interest in ecology have known that fact to be complex, true, and long overlooked. This global landscape is amplifying the ways that certain demographics have gone unprotected for decades. Among us, the global village in the face of a crisis, there are human and non-human species who are disproportionately more vulnerable. The mission of our organization is to share stories with and about those populations. We are a company designed for partnerships— with community organizers, artists, scientists, venues, and also YOU!
Now, more than ever, it is clear to us at The Kaleidoscapes that art is a vitally essential service to the public. It gives us the collective power to transport our society through imagination and play. And so, we want to live our values out loud and announce a very exciting initiative. We have set aside a portion of our budget for an Artist Relief Stipend. Many theatre artists who were employed or seeking employment prior to COVID-19 have lost significant portions of their income. One of our core values is Community, and while it may not be feasible to engage with our community in person at this time, we wish to offer an opportunity to assist environmentally-minded theatre artists. We are proud to share that two applicants will receive financial support from our Artist Relief Fund in the amounts of $400 and $200.
If you are someone who could benefit from receiving a stipend, please follow these details on how to submit. If you are reading this and know of someone else who would be a good applicant, please help us expand the reach of our initiative and share this opportunity with them.
When it becomes safe to gather under the stars once again, it will be a breath of fresh air to perform for you. In the meantime, we’re thrilled to have this opportunity to grow our network of talented eco-artists! We cannot wait to hear about your expertise and work together for a sustainable future.
As you’re able, we hope you can enjoy the awakenings of Spring. Feel free to join our Artistic Staff on our “Walk With Me” series through Instagram and we also invite you to our Digital Launch Party on April 20th (RSVP here).
